I did not have to create a character in Photoshop as a character someone else in the group made for another module was used. When creating my 2D Animation I first had to make sure that in Photoshop the layers and image mode were correct (RGB colour) for After Effects. As there was only a left side view of the character (possibly the character side could have been duplicated and flipped vertically I am not aware if this is possible) I could not animate the character jumping out of the hole again.Īfter a while group work had fallen apart and after storyboards came production, and this meant creating my animation by myself for only the 2 given Principles of the 12 Principles of Animation. The storyboard is only 5 images long but gives an outline of the animation I am to create.Ĭlothes and hair were not added into the storyboard as I did not know at the time the characters clothing and as I am not much of an artist I went straight into production. Again the Script is rough and the Principles with a red title is the 2 Principles I had to create an animation for.īeneath is an Image of my storyboard for the 2 Principles showing drawn images and descriptions beneath them.

Once I produced my animation of course my animation wasn’t exact to my plan as it depended on my ability and how I was able to animate with this character.īelow is a PDF file showing the whole script for all the 12 Principles of Animation. My plan is only a written up copy of a rough idea of what I wanted to do with the character to show these 2 Principles.īelow is a scanned image of the above plan: Overlapping Action = Running after jumping out of hole. Pose to Pose = Character returning by running to post.įollow through = Running (as he runs hair is last to catch up) Character could be getting up off the ground as they get to their feet. Character is walking and each body part of arms or legs flowing so character has normal flow movement rather than stiffness. Character could bring their arm up then turn it around pointing their elbow up then turning their arm back round and slamming their fist down. Facial – head turns from left to right – character blinks and ears/parts of face moves or the character moves and their hair or hat float/feather moves. Character is running/jumping out of a hole (overlapping action). Character is wearing clothes – clothes would move as character moves such as a cape or feather on a hat. Scarecrow (Stitchy) is walking or running – away from a fire or explosion. I had ended up getting to do the 4th and 5th Principle which is Straight Ahead Action and Pose to Pose, and Follow Through and Overlapping Action.Īfter this I had then began to research the 12 Principles of animation trying to come up with ideas from the YouTube videos that would suit the character and backdrop that was already created. We had decided to use the digital graphics/concept art work from one person in the group, they had a character named Stitchy – a scarecrow that would be alive. Video description of 12 Principles of animation:Īt first in groups we planned to even out the work load as there was 4 of us and 12 Principles of Animation we thought it was best to have 1 person each doing 3 or 2 Principles depending on the difficulty of each Principle. The aim of this assignment task was in groups to organise, plan, script, storyboard and produce a 2D animation using Adobe Character Animator or After Effects illustrating the 12 Principles of animation as outlined in the link below.
